The annually updated MVA and CIP databases are available free of charge to the public. Additionally, a portion of the INDSTAT2 database is freely available as a demo. All data are free for our partners, NGOs, all governmental institutions as well as international organizations and agencies.
Q: What is the difference between the 'Update' and 'Subscription' options available when purchasing a database?
By "subscribing" to a database upon purchase, you automatically receive the newest edition, when it is released every year. Subsequent editions of the database, following your initial purchase, will then be cheaper. If you at any point do not wish to get new updates, you may cancel the subscription. If you have ordered a database without a subscription, you may order an "update" at a reduced price (which is slightly higher than the annual subscription price) over the course of the next three years.
Example: INDSTAT 2 Database
- Initial purchase price is 600 EURO
- Subsequent years with a subscription (annually, renewal) is 200 EURO
- Subsequent years without a subscription (update) is 300 EURO
See all prices here.
Q: Is the subscription price the same for everyone?
The price of subscription depends on whether (a) you are an Academic or government organization, and (b) you are going to use the database internally or for secondary dissemination (link to toc). Secondary dissemination takes place if you sell a new database created from the data purchased from UNIDO, or if you download UNIDO database data and sell it to your customers.
Q: Is it possible to view other demo data for other databases than INDSTAT2?
A: Currently no data is available for databases other than INDSTAT2. All other databases (INDSTAT4, IDSB, MINSTAT) have exactly the same functionality as INDSTAT2. Regarding the data content (level of detail, variables and coverage), please visit the "Availability" pages. Also, it is possible to request specific data samples (for one or several countries, and for one or several variables).
Q: I am a student. Can I get access to UNIDO data for free?
No, you cannot get access to the online databases for free, but you can specify the data you need and we will provide you the requested subset (countries, variables) free of charge.
Q: Can I purchase and subscribe to the databases one by one?
Yes, every database can be ordered separately. At any point, you can add one or more additional databases or cancel any of those that you have already ordered.
